The iRepeater Handheld Test Module (FW-IRB400-SK) was designed with maintenance crews in mind, delivering a handheld device with simple LED indicators for ease of troubleshooting. iRepeater Handheld Test Module
This handheld module is a staple in our list of IEEE-1394b test equipment. The iRepeater (FW-IRB400T-SK) is used to quickly detect connectivity and wire harness issues via red/green light indicators. Designed with simplicity in mind, maintenance crews can easily monitor port connectivity and bit error information. Additionally, the iRepeater can be used to “repeat out” missing LRUs to allow continued maintenance of the aircraft while the LRU is being repaired or replaced.
Compact in size and extremely rugged, the iRepeater also features more than eight hours of battery life to ensure complete module replacement for a full personnel shift. If you’re looking for a simple way to diagnose network-level issues in a compact and simple design, the iRepeater is the solution you need.
iVeriPHY Mil1394 Handheld Test Module
The iVeriPHY is built on the success of the iRepeater and provides both point-to-point communication and network-level diagnostic capability. As with all aircraft, getting access to LRUs and wire harnesses is not simple—and with 5th-generation aircraft, it becomes even more complex and time consuming. iVeriPHY’s improved network diagnostic capability helps the maintenance personnel determine where to focus their troubleshooting efforts. iVeriPHY’s scalable architecture supports product growth through new application support. iVeriPHY comes with a 1394b Bus Monitor application that provides capabilities very similar to the iRepeater.
Two optional applications are currently available for purchase:
- Bus Error Rate Tester (BERT): Verifies the error rates through point-to-point or multi-device network topologies.
- Topology Viewer: Provides a visual representation of the 1394b network that can be quickly compared with expected network topology.
iVeriPHY’s 7″ touchscreen allows the user to quickly and easily navigate between all applications to view the monitor, BERT and topology information. This aircraft ground test equipment logs BERT test information to be saved as historical data. Note that no aircraft-specific information is stored.
iVeriPHY’s network diagnostics capability provides the user with the information needed to quickly determine the location of communications issues. Once localized, the user can use the iVeriPHY 1394b bus monitor application or the iRepeater to debug the specific wire harness or LRU communication issue.
9-Channel Bus Monitor
The 9-Channel Bus Monitor’s initial focus is Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) testing. The initial application monitors up to nine (9) 1394b busses for bus resets and node count. This information allows the user to quickly determine if the EEE test caused an issue with one or more of the aircraft’s Vehicle System busses. However, because the 9-Channel Bus Monitor is built upon the same scalable architecture as iVeriPHY, all iVeriPHY applications could also be supported in the multi-channel ground support equipment.
The 9-Channel Bus Monitor connects to the aircraft Vehicle System busses through three cables each supporting three (3) busses. The EEE test environment requires the 9-Channel Bus Monitor’s display to be remotely located through either a copper connection or an electrically-isolated fiber optic connection. Additionally, to help with electrical isolation, the 9-Channel Bus Monitor, fiber optic extenders, and remote display are all battery-powered.
